In this session, DFRLab experts will introduce technologies used for media manipulation and synthesis and the threats posed by them. A simplified technical explanation of key machine learning projects will be used to substantiate the visual cues our researchers look for during an investigation. An understanding of what is and is not possible with open source machines learning projects to date will be followed with a forecast of what is to come and how we can prepare in defense. Attendees will be left with macro, micro, practical, and theoretical understanding of machine learning media manipulation and synthesis and its political and social significance.
For all levels. No previous knowledge required.
