Jochai Ben-Avie

Jochai Ben-Avie is a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Democracy + Technology Initiative and the Founder & CEO of Wisteria Strategies, where he serves as a thought partner to foundation and executive leaders, helping them to solve problems, navigate our rapidly changing world, and maximize impact.

Ben-Avie is the co-founder and former CEO of Connect Humanity, an impact investment fund and grantmaker focused on expanding internet access which he took from concept to one of the top 50 Emerging Impact Managers in the world. As the Head of International Public Policy at Mozilla, Ben-Avie built the Firefox-maker’s global public policy team delivering legislative wins on six continents and led one of Mozilla’s funding arms.

Ben-Avie was the first Policy Director of Access Now, which under his leadership grew into one of the largest digital rights organizations in the world, and created RightsCon, the premier global conference on tech and human rights. Outside of his consulting practice, Ben-Avie is a Truman National Security Fellow, a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and a Code for Science & Society Board Member. He was privileged to receive his education at Bard College at Simon’s Rock where he graduated summa cum laude, and the University of Oxford’s Lincoln College.
