Nicholas Yap

Nicholas Yap is the director for strategy and operations at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) based in Washington DC, where he runs global operations.

The DFRLab is a startup within the Council that is at the forefront of open-source research with a focus on governance, technology, security, social media, and where each intersect. Having joined the DFRLab at its foundation in 2016, Nicholas has been involved in the rapid growth of the Lab since its inception. Previously, Nicholas worked at the DC bureau of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) as well as the US Embassy in Vienna. He graduated with a BA from Colgate University in New York with a major in International Relations and minor in German. Having attended school in Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria, he is proficient in German.
